Prince Made Us Dance & It’s Healthy

eefThere has been a lot of dancing in the streets and reflections on music as a backdrop to life experiences. In musing over the changes that occur when the music from a legendary artist stops, we don’t think about the importance of music in helping us stay healthy.

Moving more and eating less means fitting exercise of some type into your daily routine. It is recommended that you get in at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day. Can you imagine the challenge of fitting exercise into your schedule sans the music? Some of my clients choose stepping out to walk a mile or two, others sign up for the nearest organized fitness class and others enjoy sliding into dancing shoes to Step, Salsa or Electric Slide. Though it is not a scientific observation, I’ve been known to drop or reschedule an aerobics class when the playlist from the instructor is not tracking to a beat that motivates me.

There have been a number of studies exploring music as medicine. Music has positive effects on reducing stress and anxiety, lowering blood pressure, aiding in pain

Join a Gym Today and Feel Inspired

43tIt’d wrong to think gyms to be time consuming. They are not. Rather, they are one of the best places to be as they keep you fit and deliver a lot of health benefits. How can you consider gyms to be needless expense when they help you in so many ways? They are actually one of the best investments you would every make. Yes, they are. They help you understand the true meaning of life; they let you relish real essences of life. They keep you fit and only a fit individual can lead a happy and contended life.

Many people won’t think twice before spending lavishly on new clothes and vacations but when it comes to gyms, they become sort of reckless. They are pretty fine with their daily jogging at the park or running around the garden outside. Ask them to join a gym and they will sneer at you as if you have asked any special privilege from them. They think that lifting dumb bells at home is all what they need to stay fit for rest of their life. They are

Awareness About Incontinence and Incontinence Products

regNow-a-days, we can see that the market is flooding with Incontinence products be it for kids or adults. But do we really know what incontinence is?

Basically it is loss of urine from bladder or bowel motion accidentally or unknowingly due to medical problems in the body. Incontinence can be treated as well as managed. The range of severity varies from small leakage to complete loss of bladder or bowel control. The problem is widespread all over the world. It is most common among elderly people. Half of the elderly people living at home or in long-term care facilities are incontinent. These people can go through emotional as well as physical distress.

People are shy about discussing this but remember this it is a medical situation not a defect. It is not a topic of being shy but rather taking action. Even according to the research by National Association for Continence, nearly 25 million Americans struggle with bladder control. Products like adult Diapers or Bedliners are there to avoid the embarrassment people feel due to the leakage. The most common reason people fail in their

How to Boost Your Energy Easily and Naturally

efDespite all these healthy options, it is almost too easy to rely on sugar and caffeine to boost us when we are feeling down or lethargic. Instead, here are some healthier energy booster ways which will sustain better energy levels over the long term as well as in the short term. Furthermore, these will improve overall health rather than providing a quick fix which can be instead detrimental to health.

The first recommended natural energy booster is getting more sleep. This can seem a very difficult thing to do when we are excessively busy, but this does not stop it from being one of the healthiest habits that you can get into that will not only give you greater mental and physical energy, but will also help heal your tired body.

The body repairs and restores itself at night, and sleep is also necessary for our minds to process what we have been doing throughout the day. Therefore, a good, long sleep every night will leave us brighter, less stressed, and with our body performing at its best.

Of course, this can be difficult to achieve if

3 Reasons You Should Love Your Gut

efYou probably don’t spend a lot of time thinking about your gut, unless it is causing you discomfort. I certainly wasn’t thinking about my gut when I was eating fast food and drinking sugary pop. But when it started causing me problems, I started to notice.

We often focus on the things we see on the outside, or think about heart health, or cancer prevention; the poor gastrointestinal tract doesn’t get much attention. The gastrointestinal tract, or the gut, is tied to every aspect of your health. I hope with that in mind, you will start giving it some more love. Here are some reasons why.

Your gut…

  • is the initial contact between the outside world and your internal environment. It is the gate keeper for what enters your body.
  • health is necessary for the health of all other areas of your body.
  • provides a home for a multitude of organisms that help maintain immune balance and make nutrients available to the rest of your body.
  • keeps microorganisms in balance, so you don’t get sick.
  • breaks down and assimilates carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals so your body can use them

The Therapeutic Value of Tears

savHuman beings are the only creatures able to shed tears in response to emotional stress. This is what makes us different from animals. But because of social, cultural or parental influence, crying makes us feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. How often have we heard the admonition “Big boys don’t cry.” It is dinned into the minds of children, that crying signifies weakness. An advertisement on TV showed how a boy who throughout his growing years was reminded that ‘boys don’t cry.’ He grew into an emotionally repressed adult and became moody, glum and short tempered. Later in life he turned into a tyrant and wife batterer and was convicted for domestic violence.

In ancient literature we read about great heroes who were not afraid to cry. Achilles cried at the death of his friend Petroclus. Aneas wept for the loss of his friends and companions in war. In Egyptian mythology Isis wept for the dead Osiris. In the Bible, we read that Jesus wept at the tomb of Lazarus. In recent times Presidents like Theodore Roosevelt, Ronald Regan, Clinton and Bush (Sr) have been known to

sfThe recipe for getting fit is actually an easy one. Eat well, workout and take good care of your body. If you have spent the last several months or years leading a sedentary lifestyle, however, getting a new diet and exercise plan off the ground can be challenging. Following are a few, simple strategies that will help you get off to a proper start.

Don’t throw yourself headlong into a workout routine that is far too advanced for your current level of fitness. Although it’s important to continually challenge yourself in order to build up your strength and endurance, pushing yourself too hard can lead to extreme post-workout soreness. It can also increase your risk of injury.

Avoid high-impact activities until you have a good feel for how your body will stand up to them. This is especially important for people who are significantly overweight. These can be very jarring on the joints and bones, particularly if the joints and bones are already bearing excess weight. Start with low-impact and non-impact activities and then gradually move on to more high-energy exercises as your body feels ready.

Human Health, Its Importance and Contributing Factors

fbmmA close look at news headlines around the world throw up some very interesting observations.

“For some U.K. teens, sun doesn’t provide enough vitamin D.”

“Air pollution tied to high blood pressure risk.”

The underlying theme that connects these headlines is the impact they have on human health.

In the first instance, a bacterial outbreak of the E. coli strain has severely affected 38 people in 20 US states between December 2015 and May 2016. The deadly E. coli can cause dehydration and bloody diarrhea and the most affected are the elderly, infants and those with weak immune systems.

The second headline causes great concern among scientists and researchers because the study showed that nearly 80 percent of UK teens had insufficient Vitamin D levels even at the peak of summer. What is even more alarming is that the surveyed children were mostly white-skinned; as we know white skin is most sensitive to the sun’s ultraviolet B rays and need minimum sunlight exposure to produce required amounts of Vitamin D. The participants were exposed to sufficient amounts of sunlight every day and their diet included supplements and Vitamin-D fortified

Mistakes When Opting For Family Chiropractic Clinics

svWhen getting rid of body pains and problems, there are numerous options individuals can choose from. You must be aware of these treatments to ensure optimal results. One of the most effective options today is opting for treatments from family chiropractic clinics. Some individuals make mistakes when choosing a clinic. To avoid this, below are some of the most common mistakes individuals make when looking for a clinic.

Simply choosing the cheapest and nearest clinic in the area

One of the main concerns individuals need to keep in mind is to never choose the cheapest and nearest clinic in the area. When it comes to treatments, it is important to have easy access to clinics. However, there are some clinics in the area which offer insufficient treatments. Directly opting for a treatment without consultation

Annual Medical Checkups Are They Necessary

dgbIn recent years, however, much has been written about annual medical checkups – a long list of tests one must undergo every year, especially after turning 40. Considering the cost and time involved in conducting these tests, a question that arises is – Are these tests actually beneficial? And are they necessary?

The fact of the matter is that there is no one-package-suits-all solution. Pre-determined exhaustive checkups are neither necessary nor beneficial. Furthermore, such checkups are not cost effective and, in some cases, cause unnecessary additional testing and anxiety. What is critical is the time spent with one’s physician – to better determine their individual risk for certain diseases, something that may require testing in the present, and could pay off in health care savings down the road.

Here is what you need to keep in mind before you decide on what annual checkups could mean to you:

1. Analyzing the need:

The tests you need depend on your age, health, gender, and your risk factors. Risk factors might include family history, such as having a close relative with cancer, and lifestyle issues, such as smoking. Cholesterol screening,

I’m So Confused

dvMy mom was diligent about feeding us a balanced lunch and dinner. Lunch was at school because she felt that the sandwiches she would have made wouldn’t be as healthy as the hot lunches cooked and served. My classmates and I always made up names for the different foods, trying to gross each other out (cherry cobbler became known as Baby Bird Eyes, for example). The food nourished our bodies and imaginations.

An home, dinner consisted of a vegetable, fruit, starch, and meat. And sometimes dessert.

When Mom discovered Adelle Davis she was pleased that her approach to feeding us balanced meals was the right path. I read the books too and felt even more jazzed about the way we ate.

My energy was strong all of my life. For example, it was nothing for me to ride my bike a couple of miles to swim practice, swim hard for an hour, and then ride back home again. Running and playing hard all day was a cinch. Was it the food we ate? Probably.

In college I enjoyed experimenting with my eating regime: food and meal timing
